About The Position
Join GFT, an award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm, as an Architecture Intern. This internship program runs from mid-May through mid-August, offering real-world experience in a dynamic and inclusive environment. GFT's architecture team focuses on innovative design, creating inspirational, sustainable, and aesthetically striking structures. Interns will collaborate with industry experts and in-house engineering teams, leveraging advanced technologies to deliver projects that positively impact communities. The role involves providing design services for a wide variety of projects, with guidance, supervision, and mentorship from experienced professionals. GFT notes that the majority of their interns convert to full-time employees.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
- Proficiency in software such as Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering software like Enscape or Lumion.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail in design tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients on various projects.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and related standards.
- Exposure to building types such as transportation, education, commercial, industrial, and government projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on client requirements and architectural standards.
- Assist in developing projects from initial survey to construction phases.
- Contribute to design concepts and presentations.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines on technical details.
- Review shop drawings and monitor construction progress.
