About The Position

The A&P Field‑Based Avionics Technician is responsible for ensuring that rotor‑wing aircraft operating under Part 135 remain safe, airworthy, and mission‑ready. This includes performing avionics maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs in remote or field environments, all in strict accordance with FAA regulations and Bristow maintenance policies. Bristow is the world’s largest operator of the S‑92, AW189, and AW139, all of which form the backbone of its offshore energy fleet. These aircraft are widely used in the Gulf of America to support crew changes, long‑range offshore flights, and challenging operational environments typical of the region’s oil and gas infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years’ turbine rotorcraft experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Proficient in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and repair
  • A thorough knowledge of the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and other pertinent information
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Perform avionics maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on rotor‑wing aircraft operating under Part 135, ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain close coordination with Lead AMT and field leadership regarding aircraft status, discrepancies, scheduled Part 135 maintenance events, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct line‑level avionics inspections, functional checks, and system tests in remote field environments supporting offshore operations.
  • Document all work performed in accordance with RSM and applicable FAA regulations, properly signing and recording maintenance actions.
  • Ensure proper use, accountability, and care of company tools, test equipment, and avionics diagnostic devices.
  • Maintain readiness to deploy to field bases, offshore platforms, or remote sites as needed to support Bristow operations.
  • Provide detailed turnover notes for transition to relief technicians when work continues across shifts.
  • Maintain an attitude of alertness regarding unsafe practices and immediately report hazards to field leadership.
  • Uphold a clean, safe, and orderly field work environment including transport and maintenance areas.
  • Remain current on all required manuals, policy updates, and technical references.
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Part 135 field operations.
