About The Position

This role is responsible for performing continuity, power, and ground checks for post-installation wiring accuracy. The technician will also configure and calibrate avionics and medical equipment, perform post-installation system operational checks, and conduct complex troubleshooting and repair of discrepancies. The position requires operating multiple types of avionics test equipment, maintaining work orders, and directing personnel for job assignments. The lead technician will define and coordinate department requirements based on workload and schedules, prioritize workflow, review drawings for clarity and manufacturing interpretation, and review manpower requirements. They will also initiate activities associated with personnel status changes, ensure direct reports are adequately trained, maintain a safe work environment, participate in program status meetings, provide estimates for proposals, and coordinate with other departments, Engineering, and Production Control. This position requires regular scheduled attendance and may involve up to 5% travel.

Requirements

  • Two year certificate from college or technical school; and/or four or more year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four (4) years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated General Aviation avionics experience with installation, troubleshooting, and FAA certification.
  • Proficient in avionics test equipment.
  • Proficient with FAR 91.411 and 91.413.
  • Proficient in avionics systems to include but not limited to Comm, Nav, Audio, Marker Beacon, Autopilot, Garmin 430, 530, G1000, G500, GTN 650/750, Satellite Phone and Tracking, TCAS, and lighting systems.
  • Ability to read and work from blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to read, understand written regulatory and technical and exchange the same.
  • Ability to apply creativity and problem solving skills in troubleshooting work.
  • Ability to work as team member and leader under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Subject to applicable laws and Air Method’s policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • FCC license preferred.
  • FAA A&P or meet requirements to obtain a FAA repairman certificated preferred.
