About The Position

The Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on ground support equipment (GSE) for the AIS program KC-130J in Crestview, FL. This role involves a variety of duties including scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and overhauling major components. The mechanic will maintain accurate records, coordinate with program teams to minimize equipment downtime, and ensure a clean and organized workshop. Staying updated on industry trends and adhering to safety regulations are crucial. Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and vendors is essential. The role also includes fueling equipment, performing other assigned duties, and maintaining compliance with FAA, company, and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances and certifications as required by onsite programs.
  • Proficient computer skills in using maintenance management systems and software for record-keeping and inventory management.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Completion of a formal training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to lift / pull / push equipment over 50lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift, crane and manlifts.
  • Must be able to crawl under, climb over, and push equipment to perform repairs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.
  • Must have the ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and flexible hours as required.
  • Must be Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.
  • Must be able to abide by DOT/FAA regulations able to pass background check and drug screening.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • At least five (5) years of hands-on experience as a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic, preferably in the aviation industry, performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to aircraft powered and mom-powered support equipment.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Basic computer software and hardware experience including competency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and parts are properly stored and readily accessible.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to ground support equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors to coordinate repairs, procure parts, and resolve any technical issues.
  • Fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
