About The Position

This role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for the AIS program KC-130J in Crestview, FL. The mechanic will be responsible for scheduled maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and overhauling major components. Accurate record-keeping, coordination with program teams, and maintaining an organized workshop are crucial. The position requires staying updated on industry trends and adhering to all safety procedures and regulations, including FAA and company policies. Fueling equipment and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances and certifications as required by onsite programs.
  • Proficient computer skills in using maintenance management systems and software for record-keeping and inventory management.
  • Completion of a formal training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to lift / pull / push equipment over 50lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift, crane and manlifts.
  • Must be able to crawl under, climb over, and push equipment to perform repairs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.
  • Must be able to abide by DOT/FAA regulations.
  • Able to pass background check and drug screening.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • At least five (5) years of hands-on experience as a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic, preferably in the aviation industry, performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to aircraft powered and non-powered support equipment.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Basic computer software and hardware experience including competency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments, and tire rotations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and other major components to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours spent on each task.
  • Coordinate with program teams to effectively prioritize and complete repair jobs in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and parts are properly stored and readily accessible.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to ground support equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors to coordinate repairs, procure parts, and resolve any technical issues.
  • Where applicable, fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
