AV/VC Maintenance Technician - W2 Contract

About The Position

This is a W2 contract opportunity with SweetRush, where you will be the primary on-site support technician for an autonomous vehicle client. Your role will involve maintaining the integrity and functionality of all local conference rooms through daily sweep inspections and basic AV triage/troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be highly driven to learn and advance their technical skills. This is an on-site position requiring you to split your time between the client’s offices in Mountain View and San Francisco, California. The contract is for one year, 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the audiovisual or related field.
  • SIP and Slack knowledge.
  • Familiarity with the AV/VC industry, including integrators, hardware manufacturers, and best practices.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong focus and organizational skills.
  • Understanding or willingness to learn wiring diagrams and signal flow.
  • Basic knowledge of AV integration and installation.
  • Basic understanding of multiple DSPs and AV control systems including QSC, Shure, Crestron, Extron.
  • Basic understanding of network engineering concepts and implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Must be based in San Francisco 3 days a week and Mountain View 2 days a week.
  • Ability to confidently and quickly analyze problems using technical diagnostic skill sets.
  • Experience with high-profile event support, audio, video, conferencing technology, projects, maintenance, and support.
  • Flexible approach to working schedules, including early start and late finish.
  • Hands-on delivery of events either on-site or remotely via Zoom/Panopto/Google Meet.
  • Ability to work with teams and stakeholders using ticketing or booking systems to coordinate events.
  • Ability to manage the day-to-day housekeeping and maintenance of event spaces.
  • Ability to manage client expectations on production issues.
  • Ability to liaise across different levels within the immediate team, the client’s organization, and third-party vendors.
  • Ability to escalate any operational issues to the appropriate level of support and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Ability to ensure all equipment is operational prior to events, has been tested, and escalate when there are logistical issues that could impact the event.
  • Basic video encoding and editing skills.
  • Ability to operate event production equipment, including audio mixer, lighting desk, video switcher, and PTZ cameras.
  • Ability to set up and support video/audio conferencing.
  • Ability to ensure all equipment is operational in advance of the meeting and hand over to the host.
  • Ability to manage equipment and software upgrades.
  • Ability to assist with support for video/audio conferencing problems.
  • Ability to investigate faults and recommend further actions to rectify, working with external vendors when necessary.
  • Ability to ensure all multimedia/presentation rooms are maintained in good working order.
  • Ability to provide AV equipment set-up and support, including presentation/multimedia meeting room support.
  • Ability to assist with support for multimedia broadcasting.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency/ad-hoc requests.
  • Ability to carry out regular preventative room checks, ensuring all equipment functions correctly.
  • Ability to report all faults in the correct way and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform proactive maintenance/reporting to ensure all AV equipment is always of the highest standard and functioning correctly.
  • Ability to provide support, including on-the-spot diagnosis and rectification of faults and problems as and when they occur, escalating using established procedures.
  • Ability to maintain the cleanliness and presentability of all AV rooms, stores and equipment.
  • Ability to provide feedback for service improvements.

  • Exposure as an operating technician for live audiovisual special events is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily sweep inspections of all conference rooms, ensuring AV user cables are in good physical condition and passing signal, power cables are in place and correctly powering laptops, conference room controllers and schedulers are functional, audio and video are transmitted without disruption, and there is no burnout or ghosting on monitors.
  • Perform troubleshooting and break/fix resolution or escalation for all AV equipment or related requests.
  • Manage Mac Mini, iPad, and conference room peripheral Software/Hardware updates as applicable.
  • Provide support for Extron and Crestron Systems, Biamp DSPs, and Google Meet VC.
  • Offer Event Support, including setup, operation, troubleshooting, and breakdown of client's all-hands event meetings.
  • Coordinate vendor quotes and visits.
  • Manage AV Inventory, including overseeing the replenishment and allocation of inventory, ordering, tracking, and replacing hardware, storage organization, unboxing of equipment, and asset tagging.
  • Manage ticket queue.
  • Use a ladder and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Provide support for corporate AV/VC environments, confidently and quickly analyzing problems using technical diagnostic skill sets.
  • Handle high-profile event support, audio, video, conferencing technology, projects, maintenance, and support.
  • Work with executives and directors, requiring a flexible approach to working schedules, including early start and late finish.
  • Deliver events either on-site or remotely via Zoom/Panopto/Google Meet.
  • Work with teams and stakeholders using ticketing or booking systems to coordinate events.
  • Provide full event production support, either independently for smaller events or as part of a team for larger events.
