About The Position

This position is responsible for typing detailed transcripts of electronically recorded evidence for the Assistant State's Attorneys. The role involves working with various types of recorded materials, including interrogations, body-worn camera footage, dash cam footage, phone recordings, surveillance footage, 911 calls, consensual overhear conversations, and parole board hearings. The AV Transcriber will maintain transcript files and interact regularly with State's Attorney's Office employees, handling confidential information.

Requirements

  • Excellent grammatical skills both oral and written
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word applications required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Dictation CRIMES and SharePoint preferred
  • Typing speed of 50 + wpm

Responsibilities

  • Transcribe interrogations from the Chicago Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, as well as transcribing body-worn camera footage and other electronically recorded video using Start/Stop sanction software
  • Transcribe accurate transcriptions of victim and witness interviews
  • Transcribe dash cam, phone and surveillance footage
  • Maintain transcript files
  • Provide typed transcripts of 911 calls, consensual overhear conversations and parole board hearings
  • Interacts regularly with State’s Attorney’s Office employees
  • Regular access to confidential information
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
