$32 - $43

About The Position

42dot is a mobility AI company committed to solving mobility challenges with software and AI. As the Global Software Center of Hyundai Motor Group, 42dot pioneers the future of mobility by advancing the development of software-defined vehicles. We develop safety-first, user-centric software-defined vehicle technologies that deliver the latest performance through continuous updates like smartphones. We are hiring part-time transcribers to support our speech data and ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) systems. We are filling multiple positions — at least one per language — and strongly prefer candidates who are bilingual or trilingual across our target languages: North American English, Latin American Spanish, Canadian French. Candidates should be comfortable working with a wide range of accents within each language, including both native and non-native (foreign-accented) speech.

Requirements

  • Native, bilingual, or multilingual proficiency in one or more of: North American English, Latin American Spanish, Canadian French. Bilingual or trilingual candidates strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated comfort transcribing a range of accents within the language(s) above, including both native and foreign/non-native accents.
  • Comfortable transcribing points of interest (POIs), geographic references, and navigation/wayfinding terminology (e.g., street names, landmarks, directions).
  • Comfortable working with computers and transcription software/tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with personal names across a wide range of languages and cultures, particularly those common among immigrant communities in North America.
  • Experience transcribing real-world / naturalistic speech data (e.g., call center audio, voice assistant recordings, field recordings) — as opposed to studio- or lab-recorded speech.
  • Prior experience with speech data annotation, labeling, or transcription for ASR or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and review transcriptions using internal ASR and transcription systems.
  • Ensure transcription accuracy against acoustic speech recordings, following internal quality standards.
  • Classify utterances, speaker turns, and dialogue contexts.
  • Maintain consistency and reliability in labeling across large datasets.
  • Identify and annotate target wake word(s) within audio files.
  • Mark precise onset (start) and offset (end) times of target wake words with high temporal accuracy.
  • Identify and annotate precise word and phrase boundaries in the acoustic speech signal.
  • Follow detailed annotation guides and project-specific instructions.
  • Flag guideline ambiguities and suggest improvements.
  • Conduct regular cross-checks to maintain labeling quality and standardization.
  • Work closely with speech data scientists, linguists, and engineers to refine transcription and labeling processes.
  • Support iterative updates to ASR/EPD tools through accurate, consistent annotations.
