About The Position

As the AV/IT Technician, you will be STATION Austin’s secret weapon, working cross-functionally to ensure all AV/IT operations execute smoothly. You will collaborate closely with the Workplace, Events, and Venue teams, while also supporting all staff, members, clients, guests, and building personnel in a professional and friendly manner. Your role involves assisting with AV equipment usage for staff and third-party event organizers, ensuring video conferencing equipment functions correctly, maintaining event livestreams and videos, performing moderate manual labor, assisting the Workplace Team with operational tasks, interpreting equipment specifications, acting as a trusted administrator for equipment, identifying areas for improvement, and keeping server rooms and peripherals organized. You will also handle printer issues, IT training for new hires, maintaining iPads, TVs, Sonos, and company computers, and performing basic maintenance of network infrastructure and IP security camera systems.

Requirements

  • Skilled troubleshooter.
  • Organized and plans ahead, but can adapt to last-minute changes.
  • Proficient in all aspects of A/V, including video conferencing, audio system configuration, and basic event production.
  • Creative, flexible, and has strong communication skills.
  • Performs well under pressure and meets strict deadlines.
  • Familiar and enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and the tech startup scene or willing to learn about it.
  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Lives in Austin.
  • Willing to be onsite every day.
  • Plans to commit to this role for at least one year.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Has a quiet place with fast internet service for remote work.
  • Has a reliable laptop computer and smartphone.
  • Security aware (passcode on computers/phones, uses password manager).
  • Able to efficiently use the Google suite of productivity tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Available during SXSW (Spring Break) and Austin Tech Week.
  • Achieves Inbox Zero every day.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TCP/IP Networking, Dante, Extron, and Audio/Video recording and formats.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about entrepreneurship and the tech startup scene.

Responsibilities

  • Help staff and third-party event organizers use our AV equipment.
  • Ensure Google Meet, Cisco Webex, and all other equipment is functioning for video calls in conference rooms.
  • Maintain and organize event livestreams and videos.
  • Perform moderate manual labor like moving tables or mounting a TV into a wall.
  • Assist the Workplace Team with their operational tasks, as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment specifications and service manuals.
  • Be a trusted administrator for our equipment.
  • Be on the lookout for ways to improve the space and amenities offered.
  • Keep server rooms and all peripherals stocked, tidy, and organized.
  • Maintain composure in a sometimes stressful, sometimes tedious environment.
  • Handle printer issues.
  • Provide IT training with new hires.
  • Keep iPads, TVs, Sonos, and company computers functional and up to date.
  • Perform basic maintenance of our network infrastructure and IP security camera system.
  • Handle general workplace tasks and space/fixture needs.
