About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking an AV/IT Systems Specialist to ensure the successful installation, maintenance, and operation of audio-visual (AV) solutions in classrooms, conference rooms, and other campus spaces. This role involves assessing user needs, determining hardware and software specifications, designing AV-enabled spaces, developing timelines and prototypes, working with vendors, purchasing systems, managing installations, assisting with systems programming, and providing excellent customer support. The specialist will manage the integration of technology in new construction and remodeled university learning spaces or AV-enabled facilities, consulting with stakeholders to determine facilities programming. They will collaborate with the Planning and Construction department, architects, contractors, AV integrators, and OIT stakeholders to ensure technology is appropriately integrated until project completion. The role requires staying abreast of the latest developments in classroom technology and working closely with faculty to meet their pedagogical needs. A customer-focused approach is essential, ensuring professional, timely, and effective interactions with all stakeholders. This includes listening to and understanding customer needs, problem-solving, demonstrating helpfulness, maintaining a professional disposition, being approachable and team-oriented, taking ownership of tasks, providing updates, and understanding the basic operations of the university to better serve customers.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in AV/IT systems, classroom technology, instructional technology, or related field.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of professional experience, preferably in higher education, including the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of audio-visual solutions in classrooms, conference rooms, and technology-enabled learning spaces.
  • Experience managing AV projects associated with new construction and renovations.
  • Experience developing classroom technology standards and collaborating with architects, contractors, and AV integrators.
  • Experience with Jetbuilt.
  • Experience with Talem3.
  • Experience using drawing tools such as AutoCAD and/or Visio.

Responsibilities
