About The Position

Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a small satellite company focused on national security space missions, including missile warning and Earth observation. The Autonomy Engineering group enables mission success through on-board fault management and autonomy throughout the program lifecycle. The group defines fault detection, isolation, and response (FDIR) architecture; develops and validates satellite- and constellation-specific fault configurations; and supports mission objectives, spacecraft health and safety, mission CONOPS and Design Reference Missions, and end-to-end software integration, validation, and testing. The Autonomy Engineering Manager is the primary point of contact for technical matters, budget, and resource allocation, ensuring team needs, customer requirements, program needs, and company goals are met. The manager establishes engineering standards, roles, responsibilities, processes, and workflows; supports mentorship and training by Autonomy subject matter experts; and ensures programs are staffed and objectives are delivered on time and on budget. The role also forecasts staffing needs, partners with Recruiting to grow the team, manages team performance, and coordinates IRAD and process/tool improvement initiatives with subject matter experts. The manager works with engineers and other parts of the organization, including Programs, Manufacturing, Mission Operations, HR, and Recruiting. This position manages approximately 10 engineers and is expected to be 100% onsite at one of the listed location options. It is a first-shift role. The position requires U.S. Person status under export-control rules and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required post-start. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and willing to apply for and maintain a clearance. The employer does not sponsor employment visas. This is not a safety-sensitive position and is not contingent upon a program award.
