About The Position

As a Mechanical Associate, you will help ensure vehicles meet CarMax standards for safety, reliability, and performance. You will inspect and/or diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles, including engines, brakes, steering, and suspension systems. The role involves working with domestic and foreign vehicles alongside a skilled team in a modern, climate-controlled facility. CarMax provides ongoing training, advanced tools, and a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

• Experience in engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, and HVAC systems, based on the needs of the role.
• Strong understanding of health and safety compliance.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2).

• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Benefits

• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates can accrue up to 48 hours of sick time per year.
• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates receive between 80 and 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates receive 8 hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
• Holiday Premium Pay may be available to eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick leave, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
