About The Position

Philpott Ford, a Sonic Automotive dealership in Nederland, Texas, is hiring an Automotive Service Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance according to dealer and factory standards. The role involves diagnosing and repairing vehicle systems, completing work within established timeframes, inspecting repairs for quality and safety, documenting work, and communicating with customers and dealership staff. Technicians attend factory-sponsored and other training to keep their skills current. Compensation is flat-rate, ranging from $25.00 to $58.00 per hour depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications. The position also offers a year-end or tenure bonus of up to $3.50 per flat-rate hour, a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, and relocation assistance of up to $5,000, subject to experience and certifications. Tenure bonus eligibility begins after six months. This is a full-time position. Sundays are always off, and Saturday availability is required. Requirements

Technician experience.
Must have an individual set of tools.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, motor vehicle record checks, and drug testing.
Saturday availability is required.

Responsibilities

Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and other vehicle issues.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other automotive systems as specified on repair orders.
Diagnose malfunctions efficiently and complete repairs within established timeframes.
Coordinate with service advisors and the parts department to prioritize and schedule repairs.
Conduct quality inspections to confirm repairs meet or exceed industry standards and verify whether additional safety or service work is needed.
Promptly address issues or discrepancies with the Service Advisor, including parts and promised completion times.
Communicate with customers to understand vehicle issues and explain recommended repairs.
Provide accurate repair cost estimates and timelines.
Document diagnostic and repair activities accurately; complete repair orders and maintain detailed service records.
Attend factory-sponsored classes and other training sessions to stay current with automotive technologies, industry trends, and job-related skills.
