The Experienced / Certified Automotive Technician is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer standards and Tom Wood quality expectations. Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience (preferred)
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with modern diagnostic tools and repair software
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced service environment
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning
  • Proven experience in automotive repair and maintenance
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with shop equipment (alignment systems, tire machines, diagnostic tools, AC service equipment)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • All offers are contingent upon passing a background check, motor vehicle record review, social security verification, and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • OEM certification(s) and/or ASE certifications strongly preferred
  • ASE certifications or OEM training preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate diagnostics and complex mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Repair engines, transmissions, drive trains, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Follow OEM repair procedures and dealership quality standards
  • Document all work performed clearly and accurately in the dealer management system
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair findings and recommendations
  • Stay current on evolving vehicle technology through training and certification programs
  • Support shop efficiency by working collaboratively with teammates
  • Mentor or support junior technicians as needed
  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential issues early
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems with accuracy
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair needs and recommendations
  • Stay current with evolving automotive technologies, tools, and repair techniques
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds manufacturer standards
