About The Position

The Automotive Service Advisor is responsible for understanding and complying with California Labor Code and all wage and hour laws, including but not limited to compensating employees for all hours worked; providing meal, rest, and recovery periods; and maintenance of accurate time records. They are also responsible for complying with all state and federal laws, including but not limited to equal employment; pay equity; harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; and reasonable accommodations. This role involves greeting customers, directing them to technicians, and consulting with technicians about necessary repairs and alternatives. The Service Advisor uses knowledge of company products and services to sell or provide in-depth information about available parts and service options, answers customer questions about service outcomes and scheduling, and provides advice on warranty protections, potential cost savings, and trade-in advantages. They manage and oversee the dealership's workflow and schedule, call customers to advise them about service changes or pick-up times, and maintain positive customer relationships to ensure repeat business. Additionally, they ensure all details on services rendered and costs are communicated to customers, process payments, and serve as a liaison between technicians and customers regarding parts ordering and availability. The role requires knowledge and practice of the guidelines in the Bureau of Automotive Repair’s “Write it Right” Manual.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a customer-oriented environment.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Must have good driving record.
  • Must have Class A (CDL) drivers’ license.
  • Must have basic knowledge of cars and maintenance.
  • Must be willing to learn and expand knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with California Labor Code and all wage and hour laws.

  • Consult with Service Technicians regarding necessary repairs and possible alternatives.
