This role is responsible for a variety of tasks that will overhaul, rebuild, and renovate the vehicle to bring the condition of the exterior back to a presentable condition. This includes inspecting and identifying cosmetic repairs, performing color blending and matching, and applying finishes. You will operate spray-dying equipment, power tools, and utilize specific surface preparation and repair techniques. Mixing dyes to specified colors, proper use, storage, and maintenance of equipment, and prepping vehicles for paint are also key functions. Daily inspections to maintain a clean and safe work area, achieving established goals for throughput, efficiency, and quality, and communicating issues with the appropriate personnel are expected. You will portray a positive image of DriveTime, participate in creating a positive work environment, and maintain work station performance while adhering to DriveTime guidelines, policies, and practices, acting ethically and with integrity. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Certificate or Associates degree in automotive technology or work experience equivalent (2 years or more) in automotive repair.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be proficient in automotive repairs.
  • Must be able to trouble shoot basic automotive concerns.
  • Must be able to communicate the causes and recommended corrections for vehicle issue.
  • Must be able to meet metric performance targets.
  • Must be able to learn and operate basic computer systems.
  • Must be organized and punctual.
  • Must maintain a safe and compliant work space.
  • Must be able to learn and comply with all DriveTime standards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
  • Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
  • Requires standing for extended period of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • Requires use of safety equipment that may include face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
  • Requires some driving and frequent typing.
  • Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to communicate in English to ensure effective performance of the position in a safety-sensitive/technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and identify various needed cosmetic repairs using DriveTime standards and tools.
  • Perform color blending and color matching, and apply finishes resulting in a high quality finish.
  • Operate spray-dying equipment, power tools, fillers, stitching, sanding and work aids utilizing specific surface preparation and repair techniques.
  • Mix dyes to specified color using formulas, color charts or matching premixed containers.
  • Use, store, and maintain equipment properly.
  • Prep DriveTime vehicles and panels for paint – sanding, filling, taping, etc.
  • Perform daily inspections to maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Achieve the established goal for throughput, efficiency and quality.
  • Review and communicate all issues with the appropriate Cosmetic Associate and Reconditioning Manager.
  • Portray a positive image of DriveTime and actively participate in the creation of a positive, professional work environment.
  • Maintain work station performance while adhering to DriveTime guidelines, policies and practices and acting ethically and with integrity at all times and with all employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
