About The Position

The Parts Handler performs day-to-day activities in the production yard or warehouse in accordance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The role may be directed by the Production/Yard Leader to ensure parts are handled safely, efficiently, and properly. The employee works closely with a supervisor or manager, who provides broad guidance and overall direction. This position does not supervise employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
• Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, and similar tools.
• Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, keep simple records, and explain routine procedures.
• Ability to follow clear directions and procedures to solve routine, somewhat repetitive problems.
• Ability to work within established practices and guidelines and prioritize routine assigned tasks.
• Ability to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles and assume awkward positions.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds and, on occasion, up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
• Find and retrieve parts.
• Package parts for delivery or prepare them for delivery.
• Complete paperwork related to parts.
• Pull work orders.
• Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from cars.
• Operate a powered industrial truck, such as a forklift, or an order picker.
• Pull and prepare sheet metal and other orders.
• Tag all parts properly for their destination.
• Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude and appropriate behavior during work hours.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
• Prioritize and handle assigned routine tasks appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
