About The Position
The Automotive Mechanic I modifies cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The role is mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. The job requires the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of previous experience; the posting also describes a desired candidate as having 1–2 years of actual hands-on vehicle repair experience.
- Mechanical ability and the ability to operate shop equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field.
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s).
- State Mechanic certification(s).
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by working from repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
- Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
- Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
