About The Position

The Automotive Mechanic performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department, following applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. As directed by the Production Manager, the role helps ensure automobiles are dismantled safely, efficiently, and properly. The position assists with vehicle and engine dismantling, and learns the processes for dismantling, tagging, and storing parts.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanical work, or previous dismantling experience.
May be required to have a personal set of tools as needed to carry out duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, and keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions and procedures for routine, repetitive problems, with no decision-making involved.
Ability to follow guidance and guidelines provided by a supervisor or manager and work according to assigned priorities.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles in awkward positions, and to wear personal protective equipment as needed.

High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the system for dismantling, tagging, and storing all parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with safety standards and requirements to maintain a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Assume other duties as assigned.
