About The Position

The Automotive Mechanic II modifies cars and trucks in a prototype environment and performs a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The role performs independent project tasks and collaborates with customers and team members. The successful employee must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a mechanic.
Knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Own tools with a rolling toolbox.
Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.

Nice To Haves

Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field.
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
State Mechanic certifications.
Valid driver's license.
Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning system repairs, tire machines, and balancers.

Responsibilities

Maintain vehicle functional condition by working from repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service information, and repair orders.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Participate in daily shop organization and cleanup.
