About The Position

Reporting to the Commander of Fleet Operations and under the direction of the Automotive Mechanic 3, and within the regulations as set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the Automotive Mechanic 3 Apprentice will be responsible for various tasks related to automotive maintenance and repair, while progressing through their apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent diploma.
  • Register with the Skilled Trades of Ontario within 60 days of employment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" License.
  • Qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements.
  • Be registered for in-school learning through the Ontario College of Trades.
  • Provide copy of 310S Automotive Service Technician Logbook once registered as an apprentice with Ontario Skilled Trades.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to successfully complete a written test and interview.
  • Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
  • Must be able to work shift/weekend/overtime/on call duty.

Responsibilities

  • Progress through apprenticeship training as regulated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
  • Perform duties under the direction of the Automotive Mechanic 3.
  • Operate in compliance with the regulations set out by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
  • Travel to different work locations as assigned.
  • Perform essential duties of the Automotive Service Technician (310S).
  • Work in all weather conditions.
