Automotive Lube Technician
About The Position
During a full-service oil change, the Automotive Lube Technician services and inspects the complete underside of vehicles quickly, safely, and accurately. The technician ensures that the correct gaskets and drain plugs are installed, the vehicle is greased when applicable, gear boxes are checked, oil filters are secure, and there are no leaks after installation. The role also includes vehicle inspections, additional services when applicable, assisting with pressure and leak checks, and supporting the final safety and quality check. Crew members share responsibility for general center maintenance and cleaning, attending crew meetings, running errands as required, and completing other duties assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- Customer service skills.
- Basic literacy, including reading, writing, and math skills.
- Verbal communication skills.
- Ability and license to operate motor vehicles.
- Ability to properly use mechanical hand tools.
- Attention to detail.
- At least 3 months of actual experience or supervised training as a lube technician.
Responsibilities
- Work safely, wear safety gear, and keep the work area clean and organized; protect the pit opening with a bay net when it is not occupied by a vehicle.
- Use the Echo System.
- Visually inspect the vehicle undercarriage and document unusual conditions.
- Obtain the correct oil filter, drain the oil, inspect the oil drain plug and gasket, and replace the bottom-side oil filter when applicable.
- Check and fill gear boxes.
- Perform additional services, such as fuel filters, transmissions, and differentials, when applicable.
- Assist with pressure and leak checks.
- Visually inspect belts, hoses, and other hood-compartment components, and document unusual conditions.
- Lubricate the chassis when applicable and install a tamper seal on all plugs.
- Assist with the final safety and quality check.
- Perform general center maintenance and cleaning, including mopping, washing center windows, lawn mowing, clearing litter, snow and ice from the site, and cleaning restrooms.
- Attend crew meetings, run errands as required, and perform other duties assigned by a supervisor.
