Disassembly and Repair
About The Position
LKQ Corporation is seeking motivated individuals for Engine Disassembly and Repair roles. The company is a leading provider of alternative and specialty parts for vehicles. At the Springfield Remanufacturing facility, the focus is on remanufacturing automotive engines. This role involves operating within assigned cells according to established systems, procedures, and health and safety requirements. Responsibilities include material handling, waste management, ensuring quality of work, daily housekeeping, preventative maintenance, participating in cell meetings and continuous improvement activities, supporting cell leaders with documentation, and potentially filling in for the cell leader. The position also involves performing various disassembly and repair operations on parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, as well as setting up and operating complex machinery. Operations may include washing, cleaning, checking, inspecting, material handling, repairing, gaging parts, magnafluxing, shot blasting, tumbling, and prepping. The role may also involve training or instructing fellow workers.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write
- Basic math skills
- May use various hand held tools, pneumatic and electric tools, hoists, measuring devices, machinery, forklift, welding and/or magnaflux equipment, pallet jacks, and various washers.
Responsibilities
- Operation in accordance to systems and procedures within the cell and to health and safety requirements
- Handling of material and waste between processes
- Quality of own work/product
- Daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance within the cell
- Participation in daily cell meetings and in continuous improvement activities
- Participation in cell design and controls
- Support the cell leader in maintenance of documentation
- Filling in for cell leader when necessary
- Cross-training within the cell
- Provide quality products
- Performing various disassembly and repair operations on a variety of parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies
- Setting up and operating complex machines
- Washing, cleaning, checking, inspecting, material handling, repairing, gaging parts, magnafluxing, (steel and zinc) shot blasting, tumbling, and prepping
- May train or instruct fellow workers regarding duties
