About The Position

The Automotive Dismantler Assistant performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department, following applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the role supports safe, efficient, and proper dismantling of automobiles. The assistant works with dismantlers and trainers to learn vehicle and engine dismantling, as well as the processes for tagging and storing parts. The position does not supervise employees.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanical work, or previous dismantling experience.
May be required to have a personal set of tools as needed to carry out duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, and keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions and procedures to resolve routine, repetitive problems.
Follows standard procedures without decision-making authority and uses guidance provided by a supervisor or manager.
Works on assignments and priorities provided by a supervisor or manager.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles and assume awkward positions.
May be required to travel periodically, including overnight stays, depending on position requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the system for dismantling, tagging, and storing all parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with safety standards and requirements to maintain a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Perform other duties as assigned.
