About The Position

The Automotive Dismantler Assistant performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department, following applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the role helps ensure vehicles are dismantled safely, efficiently, and properly. The assistant supports experienced dismantlers, learns procedures for dismantling, tagging, and storing parts, and may work with engine dismantlers to learn engine dismantling.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanics, or prior vehicle dismantling experience.
May be required to have a personal set of tools as needed to perform duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, and keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions and procedures to solve routine, repetitive problems.
Ability to follow standard procedures without decision-making authority and use guidance provided by a supervisor or manager.
Ability to work under supervisor- or manager-provided assignments and priorities.
Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including lifting up to 75 pounds and working in cramped spaces or awkward positions.
Ability to work around potentially hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment, and wear personal protective equipment as needed.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the process for dismantling, tagging, and storing parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with safety standards and requirements to maintain a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Perform other duties as assigned.
