About The Position

The Automotive Dismantler Assistant performs day-to-day activities in the Processing Department in accordance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the role helps ensure automobiles are dismantled safely, efficiently, and properly. The assistant supports a Dismantler/Trainer, learns the procedures for dismantling vehicles and tagging and storing parts, and may work with Engine Dismantlers to learn engine dismantling. The position does not supervise employees.

Requirements

Background in body repair, mechanics, or previous dismantling experience.
May be required to have an own set of tools as needed to carry out duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate basic messages orally, write brief messages, and keep simple records.
Ability to follow clear directions, standard procedures, and supervisor or manager guidance and priorities.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles, including in awkward positions.
Ability to perform occasional standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, reaching, stair climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or extended sitting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Assist the Dismantler/Trainer with dismantling vehicles.
Learn and complete the system for dismantling, tagging, and storing all parts.
Work with Engine Dismantlers as needed to learn engine dismantling.
Comply with safety standards and requirements to maintain a safe, hazard-free workplace.
Perform other duties as assigned.
