About The Position

The body shop Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and refinishing vehicles, equipment, and related components to a high-quality professional standard. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience with automotive or travel trailer painting, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining safety and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an automotive or travel trailer painter.
  • Experience with spray painting and refinishing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation, priming, colour matching, and finishing procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow product specifications and technical instructions.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle painting materials and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and occasionally in outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined or elevated areas when required.
  • Ability to wear required respiratory and protective equipment for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, filling, and priming.
  • Operate spray guns and other painting equipment to apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and industrial finishes.
  • Match colours and ensure consistent finish and coverage.
  • Perform painting and refinishing work on heavy equipment, vehicles, machinery, and components.
  • Inspect completed work for imperfections, runs, sags, overspray, colour inconsistencies, and other defects.
  • Perform touch-ups, corrections, and finishing work as required.
  • Properly mix paints, primers, hardeners, reducers, and other coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain and clean spray guns, paint equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of paints and chemicals.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective clothing where required.
  • Maintain accurate work records and communicate any issues or material requirements to management.
  • Work independently while also cooperating with mechanics, technicians, supervisors, and other shop personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Perform other duties related to painting, refinishing, and shop operations as assigned.
