About The Position

The Leman Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Body Shop Painter for its Bloomington, Illinois body shop. The role is suited to someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, pays close attention to detail, and is committed to producing high-quality vehicle finishes. The painter prepares and refinishes vehicles, performs paint repairs, and works with body technicians and estimators to deliver timely, quality repairs while following manufacturer procedures and company safety policies.

Requirements

Previous automotive body shop painting experience.
Ability to properly prepare, paint, blend, and finish vehicles to a high standard.
Experience with paint mixing and color matching.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

I-CAR or ASE certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, feather edging, and priming.
Mix and match paint colors to manufacturer specifications.
Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat with attention to quality and consistency.
Perform spot repairs, panel blending, and full vehicle refinishing.
Inspect completed work for color match, finish quality, and imperfections.
Buff, polish, and complete final finish work as needed.
Maintain the paint booth, spray equipment, and work area in a clean and safe condition.
Follow manufacturer repair procedures and company safety policies.
Work closely with body technicians and estimators to ensure timely, quality repairs.
