About The Position

Vista Auto Group is seeking an experienced Automotive Accounting Specialist with Automotive Title experience to lead and support our business office team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled accounting professional to expand their expertise in a fast-paced and rewarding dealership environment. The Accounting - Title Specialist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the dealership by ensuring accounting transactions are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who demonstrates strong leadership qualities, takes initiative, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes and solve problems. The ideal candidate is resourceful, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and communicates effectively while partnering with accounting teams, store leadership, and corporate departments across multiple dealership locations and markets.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent accounting experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting or dealership business office experience preferred.
  • Experience in completing bank reconciliations and preparing sales tax filings.
  • Working knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple dealership locations and corporate teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile daily accounting transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and research discrepancies to ensure timely resolution.
  • Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns in accordance with filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, title, and other accounting functions as needed.
  • Review financial records for accuracy and identify discrepancies or unusual activity.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Partner with accounting teams, department managers, and corporate personnel across multiple dealership locations to ensure consistent accounting practices.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with internal stakeholders across different markets to resolve accounting questions and support operational needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with store leadership and cross-functional departments to ensure the timely completion of accounting processes.
  • Support corporate initiatives, system implementations, and process improvement projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership through accountability, professionalism, and a positive example for others.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a resource to teammates by sharing knowledge, assisting with training, and helping resolve accounting issues.
  • Recommend process improvements that strengthen internal controls and streamline workflows.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
