About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Automation Tester with a strong foundation in manual testing principles and the technical ability to write, run, and maintain automated test scripts. The role involves proficiency in using developer tools for debugging, competency with test management tools, and knowledge of various database systems. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze test requirements, profile production data, break down complex processes, and develop data-driven solutions. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with software engineers, system personnel, and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience; or three years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer in the Colorado Judicial Department.
  • OR Three years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience; or three years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer within the Colorado Judicial Department.
  • Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of manual testing principles, including test case design, types of testing (functional, regression, API, performance), and defect management.
  • Technical skill to write, run, and maintain automated test scripts (Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, and others).
  • Proficiency in using developer tools, reading error logs, and tracing the source of an issue (Google DevTools, application logs, HTTP requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, etc.).
  • Competency with test management tools (Zephyr Scale, GitLab, etc.) for logging bugs and tracking test progress.
  • Knowledge of various database systems, including relational databases and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with specialized test data management and data governance platforms.
  • Ability to analyze test requirements and profile existing production data.
  • Ability to systematically break down complex processes, identify bottlenecks, waste, and variation, and then develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to execute predefined test cases and also perform unscripted exploratory testing.
  • Proficiency in translating high-level business and functional requirements into detailed, efficient, and comprehensive test cases.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide quality assurance measures, testing standards, and current best practices.
  • Knowledge of identifying potential quality risks, assessing their impact and likelihood, and formulating effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to be proactive in identifying potential issues early in the development lifecycle rather than reactively finding them later.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with software engineers, system personnel, and management.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write, run, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, and AI-assisted testing.
  • Utilize developer tools (Google DevTools, application logs, HTTP requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps) to debug issues, read error logs, and trace problems to their source.
  • Employ test management tools (Zephyr Scale, GitLab) for logging bugs and tracking test progress.
  • Analyze test requirements and profile existing production data.
