About The Position

Howmet Aerospace is transforming the next phase of more fuel-efficient, quieter aerospace engines and sustainable ground transportation. This position is for the Howmet Casting plant in Wichita Falls, Texas. The role requires the ability to work an off shift. The Automation Technician installs, programs, and repairs robots and related automated equipment, such as programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, conveyors, and parts orienters. This role utilizes power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints. Essential functions include reviewing related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks, understanding electronic applications, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of various controllers and robots. The role also involves documentation of automation processes and participation in quality audits pertaining to Automation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) due to ITAR regulations.
  • Ability to lawfully obtain access to export-controlled items.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree and technical training.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with related job functions.
  • Robot programming experience.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • Panel building and machine wiring experience.
  • Schematic and blueprint reading experience.

Responsibilities

  • Programs robot to perform specified tasks, applying knowledge of programming language using teach pendants, keyboards, control panels, or robot controllers.
  • Modifies programs to refine movement of robot using the various controllers.
  • Observes robots and related equipment to detect malfunctions, and repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Observes and maintains quality of the automation processes.
  • Initiates and maintains documentation throughout the development and qualification process.
  • Other duties as required.
