About The Position

Agropur Bedford is seeking an experienced Automation Technical Advisor to serve as the plant’s technical authority for automation, controls, instrumentation, and industrial information systems. The Automation Technical Advisor will ensure system compliance with corporate OT policies, support capital projects, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the reliability of plant control systems. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Corporate Technical Services to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation within manufacturing or process environments.
  • Strong PLC experience (Rockwell preferred) with ability to support programming, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial controls (FactoryTalk or similar).
  • Ability to support both project work (implementation/commissioning) and day-to-day troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to robotics, MES or SAP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, robotics, and industrial networking systems.
  • Collaborate with corporate departments (IT, OT, Engineering) to successfully complete automation related projects.
  • Ensure existing automation systems comply with corporate OT policies and standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend automation technologies to improve safety, quality, reliability, and productivity.
  • Establish long-term automation roadmaps and modernization plans.
  • Assist automation-related capital projects from concept through implementation, including design, commissioning, and start-up support.
  • Coordinate automation contractors, system integrators, and equipment suppliers.
  • Identify and implement process optimization and cost-reduction opportunities through automation.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to maintenance, production, engineering, and project teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis investigations involving automation and control systems.
  • Support equipment reliability, lifecycle management, and replacement planning initiatives.
  • Ensure the integrity, security and resiliency of plant automation systems.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system drawings, and control narratives.
  • Develop and deliver training, coaching, and technical standards for maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Represent the plant on corporate automation initiatives and technical working groups.
