The Automation Specialist serves as a domain expert in areas such as programmable controllers (PLC/PAC), safety control systems, associated input/output (I/O) modules, industrial computers, human machine interface (HMI), Ethernet/IP networks, security products, and the software required to interface with them, including Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Historian, AssetCentre, TransactionManager, ThinManager, communications, and analytics software. This role is a pre-sales technical and commercial resource for customers and The Reynolds Company sales team, responsible for launching new and existing Software and Controls products and technologies. This includes product training, demonstration, competency development, collaboration with the marketing team, and target account identification. The specialist provides selection and design advice for Rockwell Automation products in common configurations, leveraging Rockwell Automation resources as needed, and is adept at differentiating products and solutions from competitors by highlighting meaningful benefits to the customer. They are responsible for developing and implementing the Software and Controls Business Plan for sales growth in conjunction with Rockwell Automation and Reynolds Company leadership and co-workers. The position involves working with Rockwell Automation’s Software and Controls Field Business Leads to provide feedback on target accounts, sales growth opportunities, technical and commercial information, new products, promotions, competition, and assistance when required. Participation in account planning and sales strategy, focusing on new customer acquisition and existing customer expansion, is also a key aspect of this role. The Automation Specialist must be comfortable influencing customers on the value of The Reynolds Company and Rockwell Automation solutions compared to competitors, coordinating sales teaming efforts, and motivating, supporting, and leading inside and outside sales teams to implement the business plan. Strong presentation, arbitration, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to analyze market conditions, develop an annual business plan, and coordinate its implementation. The ability to administer and implement marketing, promotion programs, and product launches from Rockwell Automation product businesses is also required. The position of Automation Specialist will be based out of The Reynolds Company Houston, TX location.
