Automation Software/Firmware Co-op (Hybrid) - September 2026
About The Position
This is an 8-month co-op opportunity starting in September 2026, with 1-2 positions available. The role is hybrid and located in Burnaby, BC. As a member of the Automation team, you will gain hands-on experience in the development of software, firmware, and/or electronics for automated manufacturing equipment. Kardium has developed a groundbreaking medical device, The Globe® Pulsed Field System, for the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, and has recently obtained FDA approval for its commercial launch. This co-op offers a chance to contribute to a life-changing technology.
Requirements
- Good object-oriented programming skills, typically with C#, Java, or C++
- Keen desire to produce high quality code
- Highly proactive and able to execute tasks with minimal instruction and guidance
- Enthusiastic about finding innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
- History of success working in a team setting
- Excellent communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electrical circuit design and hands-on ability: wiring, soldering, debugging, etc.
- Experience with data acquisition, motion control, machine vision, or database development
- Experience using eCAD, for example Altium
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop software for automated manufacturing and test equipment
- Assembling, integrating, and testing control system hardware, used for manufacturing and testing Kardium’s products
- Creating custom test setups to evaluate performance of candidate components for our products
- Developing software tools and libraries used internally by the automation team
