Automation Electronics/Firmware Co-op (Hybrid) - September 2026
About The Position
This is an 8-month co-op opportunity starting in September 2026, with 1-2 positions available. The role offers hands-on experience in the development of software, firmware, and/or electronics for automated manufacturing equipment within the Automation team. The position is a hybrid work arrangement located in Burnaby, BC. Kardium has developed a groundbreaking medical device, The Globe® Pulsed Field System, for the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, and has recently obtained FDA approval for its commercial launch. This co-op term provides an opportunity to contribute to bringing life-changing technology to patients.
Requirements
- Good electrical circuit design and hands-on ability (wiring, soldering, debugging, etc.)
- Experience with eCAD (e.g. Altium)
- Good software and firmware skills, typically with C, C++, or C# and a desire to produce high quality code
- Highly proactive and able to execute tasks with minimal instruction and guidance
- Enthusiastic about finding innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
- History of success working in a team setting
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Designing electronic circuits, PCBs, and firmware, to be incorporated into test fixtures or for research and development
- Assembling, integrating, and testing control system hardware and firmware
- Developing custom tests to evaluate performance of candidate components for our products
