About The Position

This Consultant role sits at the center of the action for NF success, where business needs are captured, solutioned, planned, and delivered through automation. This Consultant will serve as the Product Owner for workflow automation capabilities within Nationwide Financial Shared Business Solutions (SBS) – Automation, owning the vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog for solutions that orchestrate end-to-end processes across NF. Closely partnered with the Software Engineering Product Manager and Agile Lead from Technology, they will identify and prioritize opportunities, translate complex processes into actionable stories, collaborate across robotic automation, process orchestration, intelligent capture, and other emerging capabilities, and measure success through key workflow KPIs—while leading readiness and adoption efforts and ensuring solutions align to enterprise technology, risk, and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business, IT or related field with advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically, 7 or more years of demonstrated experience in product management, business consulting & analysis, business process analysis and design.
  • Product, business or engineering background is preferred.
  • Proven understanding of a broad set of technologies and interactions impacting the end-to-end product.
  • Expert knowledge of insurance practices.
  • Advanced level understanding of agile planning and delivery methodologies in a product-centric operating model.
  • Solid understanding of customer business and product environment.
  • Must possess an entrepreneurial mindset focused on leading with customer centricity.
  • Command of both verbal and written communication and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through group level change such as change in business model, restructuring operations, new technologies, mergers, major collaborations, etc.
  • Strong project and process management skills.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Capable of negotiating and interacting with senior leadership, internal and external partners.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify innovative and creative ways to bring customer experiences to life.
  • Strong knowledge of the Insurance industry, customer centric design principles and data and analytics.
  • Ability to manage a budget and effectively prioritize.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
  • Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with key stakeholders to execute on strategic vision/roadmap.
  • Prioritizes and maintains a holistic product backlog including new build, enhancement work and technology driven work.
  • Provides critical input to developers and agile teams serving as the liaison to ensure the business point of view is captured.
  • Accountable for managing product backload across all work to meet expected delivery outcomes.
  • Where applicable, navigates outside partners to understand their expectations and ideal interactions within Nationwide.
  • Participates in various meetings focused on driving short term outcomes and plans.
  • Understands and connects the impact across Nationwide to ensure solutions meet needs and expectations across the organization.
  • Participates in planning and execution of user acceptance testing, triages issues and works with development team to resolve technically complex issues requiring alignment across multiple business partners and subject areas.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
