Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in automation design or special-purpose equipment
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and automation principles
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Nice To Haves
- Experience with robotic cells and automated assembly systems
- Knowledge of machine shop practices and manufacturing techniques
- Experience mentoring junior designers or co-op students
- Experience developing design standards and contributing to CI initiatives
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems for robotics, automation equipment, gauges, and assembly tooling
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to develop automation solutions
- Perform engineering calculations related to materials, forces, and motion systems
- Create detailed drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials using SolidWorks
- Review designs to ensure compliance with safety and customer standards
- Collaborate with electrical and controls teams to integrate automation systems
- Support manufacturing during build, debug, and integration of equipment
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams on technical requirements and design updates
- Provide time estimates, resource requirements, and progress updates on design activities
- Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements to manufacturing and maintenance processes
