About The Position

The Automation Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and overhaul work on electronic/electromechanical equipment. This position will read and interpret electronic schematics and identify components to manage and assemble projects. Westfall Technik is a fast-growing Plastic Injection Manufacturing Company in the USA, currently supporting over 1,100 employees across 11 facilities. Requirements

  • Highly mechanically inclined.
  • Strong ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Understand low and high voltage wiring.
  • Capable of reading electrical prints.
  • Knowledge of vision systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic electrical skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
  • Good hand-eye coordination with manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

  • Cognex and Keyence vision systems experience a plus.
  • Mill and lathe experience a plus.
  • Technical degree or certificate a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic processing and troubleshooting.
  • Forklift training (can be completed on the job).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, perform preventative maintenance, and overhaul electronic/electromechanical equipment.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and identify components.
  • Manage and assemble projects.
  • Perform EOAT changeovers for production when directed.
  • Perform preventive automation maintenance as per instruction and assigned intervals.
  • Inspect equipment for defects and plan for solutions to prevent downtime.
  • General housekeeping around the shop and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of components, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain electronic/electromechanical equipment to ensure it is in optimal running condition.
  • Work independently with strong technical knowledge, leading teams for proactive planning and maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
