About The Position

In this Automation Engineer role you will design, develop, and maintain network automation solutions using Cisco CNC, Cisco NSO, Nokia NSP, Python, APIs, and related technologies. Automate network configuration, validation, monitoring, compliance, remediation, and maintenance activities across multi-vendor infrastructure. Improve network reliability through telemetry-driven automation, configuration drift detection, operational health checks, CI/CD, observability, automated troubleshooting, and safe change controls. Collaborate with network engineering teams to standardize operational practices and reduce manual intervention across the network.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of service provider networking, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, SNMP, and network telemetry.
  • Professional experience supporting or engineering large-scale service provider networks.
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration platforms such as Cisco CNC, Cisco NSO, Nokia NSP, or similar technologies.
  • Strong Python scripting skills for network automation, tooling, and API integrations.
  • Experience with REST APIs, NETCONF/RESTCONF, YANG, or other network programmability technologies.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems and troubleshooting network automation platforms and integrations.
  • Experience with network monitoring, telemetry, configuration validation, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, testing, and software development practices for maintaining production network automation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain network automation using Cisco CNC, Cisco NSO, Nokia NSP, Python, APIs, and related platforms.
  • Automate network configuration changes, maintenance activities, validation, and operational tasks across multi-vendor infrastructure.
  • Build automated pre-checks and post-checks to verify routing, interfaces, adjacencies, reachability, and overall network health.
  • Detect and remediate configuration drift, device synchronization issues, and deviations from network engineering standards.
  • Integrate automation platforms with inventory, telemetry, monitoring, alarming, ticketing, and source-of-truth systems.
  • Develop telemetry-driven and closed-loop automation to identify network issues and support automated remediation where appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot network automation failures, controller issues, API integrations, and device-level problems, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Improve network reliability by identifying repetitive manual processes and recurring failure patterns that can be reduced through automation.
  • Maintain safe automation practices through testing, CI/CD, version control, rollback mechanisms, change validation, and blast-radius controls.
  • Create operational tooling, dashboards, documentation, and runbooks that improve network visibility, troubleshooting, compliance, and engineering efficiency.
  • Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
