The Automation Engineer does a variety of tasks including research, development, and testing of all aspects of mechanical and electrical components, equipment, systems, controls, software, and machinery. The Automation Engineer applies knowledge of engineering to design, implement, and support products such as instruments, controls, and machines for the purpose of production, engineering, and project management support. They will purchase, integrate, and improve hardware and software for custom applications. Other duties include leading the fabrication, installation, application, and technical support of such products.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field is required. Education may be substituted with equivalent industry experience in aerospace, marine, or transportation industrial manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software is required
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a government issued security clearance.
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP ERP software is advantageous
  • Experience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software is advantageous
  • Experience working with PLCs, drives, embedded computing, electronics, or software development is advantageous
  • Experience working with metal machining, fabrication, or 3-D printing is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining and inspection processes
  • Develops and executes high level and detailed project plans, including managing schedules and budgets
  • Completes and understands all quality requirements for projects
  • Manages project scope and performs risk assessments
  • Identify opportunities for automation within software processes
  • Identify bugs and quality issues in development, service or business processes
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned
