Purpose The Automation & Controls Technician will support the build and commissioning of Divergent's advanced automation systems. This is a hands-on role focused on bringing new equipment to life , integrating electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems into reliable, high-performance automation.

Requirements

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience building or integrating industrial automation systems
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems (24VDC and 480/277 VAC)
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience with pneumatic systems and mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency with standard diagnostic tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building complex automation systems (robotics, CNCs, custom equipment)
  • UL 508A panel building experience.
  • State certified as an electrician.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based systems and industrial networks
  • Experience in a fast-paced or startup manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational habits and ability to adapt quickly to new builds.

Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, and integrate industrial control panels and automation equipment.
  • Assemble and install mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic subsystems.
  • Support system bring-up, checkout, and commissioning of new automation cells.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during build and commissioning.
  • Partner with engineers to debug issues, implement design changes, and improve system performance.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient build areas, tooling, and development cells.
