About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. The Ground System Development organization is responsible for delivering reliable, high‑performance ground systems, electrical systems, and Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) infrastructure that enable safe and continuous spaceflight operations. This position supports that mission by contributing to the design, build, integration, and sustainment of ground systems, test assets, and launch facilities across multiple sites. As part of a highly skilled team of technicians and engineers, you will install, troubleshoot, and commission instrumentation and control systems that support critical launch and test operations. Your work will directly influence system readiness, facility reliability, and the overall success of launch site execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of instrumentation experience in aerospace, industrial, or oil and gas environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Mechanical proficiency, proper use of hand tools, and adherence to safe work practices
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at moderate heights, and climb ladders/stairs
  • Familiarity with PLCs and experience installing/troubleshooting instrumentation such as valve positioners, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and general electronics
  • Experience working with 24 VDC control circuits, 4–20 mA control loops, and 120V, 208V, and 480V electrical systems
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment. Work can be in industrial settings, on manufacturing floors, or in control rooms. It may involve exposure to noise, fumes, or varying temperatures and heights
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and independently as a self‑starter
  • Strong attention to detail with experience in pre‑job planning and layout
  • Ability to build trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing up and down stairs and/or ladders regularly throughout the day
  • Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift lightweight supplies or materials (up to 25lbs unassisted)
  • Available to work overtime and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience completing or maintaining launch pad, test stand, or high‑hazard facility systems
  • Working knowledge of propellants, hazardous locations/classification, NEC requirements, and UL 508A standards
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and telescopic boom lifts
  • Associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related technical field
  • Journeyman Electrical License

Responsibilities

  • Wire, commission, and debug automated control systems
  • Build automation control panels per design
  • Work with external vendors to build and install panels
  • Redline electrical and pneumatic schematics for automated systems
  • Take utmost ownership of install work and timelines, providing regular updates and communicating blockers or risks rapidly
  • Field installation of control enclosures, Unistrut and secondary steel components
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair of control systems
  • Cable conductor termination including overall and drain shielding
  • Instrumentation installation
  • Field routing, cable tray and wire basket installation
