About The Position

The Automation Assembly Operator is responsible for supporting day-to-day production activities to meet customer product demand. This role involves assembling and modifying products and fixtures, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing mechanical systems. The operator will work with various components such as robotic grippers, rotary units, and linear actuators, and may perform basic drilling and milling for component modification. A key aspect of the role is the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and manuals to diagnose and make repairs, adhering to specified tolerances. The position also requires maintaining a clean workstation, following safety rules and policies, and participating in quality improvement programs.

Requirements

  • Understanding of the system engineering process as it relates to use and service of SCHUNK products.
  • Exceptional technical problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to develop an understanding of the component manufacturing and sales industry and SCHUNK product lines.
  • Understanding of blueprints, sketches, drawings, and manuals.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret highly technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot in the field and communicate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience in assembly of components in the manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and work with robotic grippers, rotary units, and linear actuators.
  • Perform basic drilling and milling at machines for modification of components.
  • Assemble and modify product fixtures.
  • Support day-to-day production activities to help meet customer product demand.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and diagnose products or mechanical systems.
  • Read blueprints to diagnose and make repairs, including understanding exploded views and following assembly instructions while adhering to tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation through the SCHUNK 5S program.
  • Follow all SCHUNK production safety rules and policies.
  • Participate in the SCHUNK Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform other duties or projects when requested by SCHUNK management.
