About The Position

Parker Hannifin’s Quick Coupling Division in Union City is seeking Automatics Operators to support precision manufacturing and help keep the world moving. In this role, you will set up, operate, monitor, adjust, and perform basic troubleshooting on multi-spindle automatic screw machines used to produce quick coupling components to specification. This position supports safe operations, consistent quality, productivity, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. What Is a Quick Coupling? Parker’s Quick Coupling Division is the largest manufacturer of quick couplings in the world. A quick coupling is used to provide a fast, make-or-break connection of fluid or gas transfer lines. Our plants provide critical equipment for many different industries including Agriculture, Construction, and Data Processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of machining experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and work from complex drawings, specifications, layouts, and operating instructions.
  • Ability to apply shop math, handbook formulas, and machining principles.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform tool grinding, sharpening, and proper tool selection, including insert grades and coatings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have taken and passed the Parker QCD Basic Shop Course, or be able to complete required training.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, adjust, and monitor Automatic machines and related assigned equipment.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including PPE, Behavior Based Safety, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Select and adjust spindle speeds, collets, tooling, feed rates, cams, offsets, and machine settings for standard and non-standard work.
  • Install tooling, collets, stops, cams, indexing mechanisms, and bar stock feed components.
  • Perform machining operations such as facing, forming, turning, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, threading, and cutting off stock.
  • Produce pilot pieces for first-piece verification and make adjustments to correct setup or production variances.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, finish quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Identify, correct, and communicate quality deviations; notify the Lead of significant issues.
  • Remove, reset, sharpen, or adjust tooling as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Minimize burrs and manually clean or deburr parts when required.
  • Remove machined parts, bar ends, and turnings; separate recyclable turnings.
  • Maintain statistical process control charting and production documentation.
  • Work from drawings, engineering specifications, layouts, and operating instructions.
  • Recommend improvements to tooling, methods, processes, or work instructions.
  • Maintain tooling inventory and organization within assigned mini-cribs.
  • Maintain oil and coolant levels and complete required Total Preventive Maintenance activities.
  • Participate in High Performance Team, Continuous Improvement, and CAPA activities.
  • Operate CNC lathes, including multiple-spindle CNC lathes, when assigned.
  • Maintain responsibility for quality parts throughout the production run.
  • Demonstrate a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
