About The Position

A&K Railroad Materials is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II to join their manufacturing team in Kansas City, KS. This is a hands-on role focused on manufacturing specialized trackwork products for the railroad industry. The position requires proficiency in CNC machine setup, blueprint reading, G-code, inspection, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate can work independently, make adjustments, and solve problems effectively.

Requirements

Previous CNC machining experience
Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment
Ability to read and understand blueprints and G-code
Ability to use basic precision measuring tools, including calipers
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
High school diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machines
Manufacturing experience
Machining experience
Metal fabrication experience
Heavy industrial experience

Responsibilities

Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture precision rail components
Read and interpret blueprints, G-code, work orders, and machine specifications
Perform measurements and inspections using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring tools
Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality and production
Use manual tools and equipment as needed to support manufacturing operations
Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures while maintaining an organized work area
