About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Autoclave Operator Tech. Under supervision, this role involves loading, setting up, and operating autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic, fiberglass, and carbon fiber aircraft parts. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, FOD and 5S programs, and maintaining an orderly work area. Responsibilities include retrieving and preparing tools, assisting with part placement, connecting equipment, and monitoring autoclave operations. There are two levels described, Level I focusing on basic setup and operation, and Level II including more detailed tasks like reading electronic documents, operating the computerized system, and ensuring parts are processed correctly.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of related autoclave operational experience.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and related systems.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Basic operational understanding of overhead cranes, forklifts and electric tow mules and all other tools required to perform the job.
  • Basic ability to read, comprehend and implement company manufacturing procedures, as well as basic math and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
  • Must possess and use a Q-Stamp to include all approved processes associated with autoclave operations. New hires will be required to obtain a Q-Stamp within twelve (12) months.

Responsibilities

  • Loads, sets up, and assists with the operation of autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic, fiberglass, and carbon fiber aircraft parts.
  • Assists with the selection of parts and assemblies for simultaneous bonding based on processing requirements and autoclave capacity.
  • Assists with the placement of racks and tools containing parts and assemblies within the autoclaves.
  • Connects thermocouples and vacuum lines to fittings on tool ports and/or thermocouple and vacuum plugs inside the autoclave.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area, supports the company FOD and 5S program, and complies with all safety regulations.
  • Retrieves scheduled DWP lay-up tools from tool storage and preps and releases tools for lay-up operation.
  • Assists with break down and cleaning of tools containing cured parts.
  • Stores cleaned tools in the specified storage area.
  • Reads and interprets electronic travel documents and related paperwork (Level II).
  • Arranges bonding racks and tools containing parts and assemblies and strategically loads and positions racks in autoclaves (Level II).
  • Populates and confirms required part number, thermocouple and vacuum port information into the autoclave computerized operating system (Level II).
  • Adjusts manual controls and/or enters commands into the computerized operating system to regulate and activate autoclave power supply, cooling system, heat, and pressure gauges and recorders (Level II).
  • Monitors instruments, switches, and recorders and listens for warning signals during autoclave operation to ensure conformance to specifications (Level II).
  • Ensures that parts, lab samples, and related paperwork are processed and taken to the proper location (Level II).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
