About The Position

Parsons is seeking an AutoCAD Drafter to join our Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) program. This program supports the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan, NextGen Program, national security programs, and aviation safety through various technical services including drafting. The T5 contract involves work across all FAA regions, with an average staff of 500 supporting the contract. The AutoCAD Drafter will be responsible for preparing drawings and computer models from sketches, models, and verbal information provided by engineers, architects, or designers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and drafting techniques required.
  • Must be computer savvy and a fast learner.
  • Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements.
  • A background check by the Federal Authorities will be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare drawings or computer models of complex or original designs, including multiple views and detail drawings.
  • Work from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an architect, engineer, or designer.
  • Select required information from computer programs, manufacturers' catalogs, and technical guides.
  • Interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details.
  • Provide advice and guidance to lower-level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
  • Understand the reference/model file concept for preparing facility construction drawing packages.
  • Manipulate multiple reference/model files to prepare specific discipline plan drawings and sections/details.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret and incorporate client’s Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG) standards.
  • Check the validity of drawing contents prior to adding to the inventory.
  • Ensure the proper filing of drawings.
  • Provide copies of drawings upon request.
  • Accept incoming drawing packages from Drafting Manager or Lead Drafter.
  • Create PDF files from stored folders when no hardcopies are provided and directed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
