About The Position

Parsons is seeking an AutoCAD Drafter for the T5 Program, supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves preparing drawings and computer models for complex designs, working from sketches, models, and verbal information provided by engineers or designers. The drafter will select information from various sources, potentially advise lower-level drafters, and coordinate large drafting projects. Specific duties include manipulating reference/model files for facility construction drawings, working independently, interpreting client standards, and ensuring drawing validity and proper filing. The position is part of the Federal Solutions team, supporting US government customers in areas like defense, security, and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and drafting techniques.
  • Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Must be computer savvy and a fast learner.
  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements.
  • A background check by the Federal Authorities will be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare drawings or computer models of complex or original designs, including multiple views and detail drawings.
  • Work from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an architect, engineer, or designer.
  • Select required information from computer programs, manufacturers' catalogs, and technical guides.
  • Interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details.
  • Provide advice and guidance to lower level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
  • Understand the reference/model file concept for preparation of facility construction drawing packages.
  • Manipulate multiple reference/model files to prepare specific discipline plan drawings and sections/details.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret and incorporate client’s Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG) standards.
  • Check the validity of drawing contents prior to adding to the inventory.
  • Ensure the proper filing of drawings.
  • Provide copies of drawings upon request.
  • Accept incoming drawing packages from Drafting Manager or Lead Drafter.
  • Create PDF files from stored folders when no hardcopies are provided and directed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
