About The Position

Northern Architectural Systems is seeking an AutoCAD Drafter to join their team at their Teterboro facility. This role will support the production of shop drawings, fabrication details, and installation diagrams for aluminum window and door systems. The ideal candidate will have previous experience drafting window and/or door systems, though it is not mandatory. The position requires exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a results-driven approach and exceptional computer skills.

Requirements

  • Certificate or diploma in Drafting, CAD Technology, Architectural Technology or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience as an AutoCAD Drafter.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD (model space/paper space, viewports, blocks, XREF basics)
  • Must have a basic understanding of architectural and shop drawings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Fluent in MS Office
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience drafting window and/or door systems.
  • Experience with window/door systems, curtainwall, storefront, or metal fabrication is preferred but not mandatory
  • A familiarity with Bluebeam or PDF markup tools
  • Exposure to Revit or 3D modeling tools

Responsibilities

  • Able to produce basic plans, elevations, sections, and detail views under supervision.
  • Generating drawings according to the requirements provided by the senior designer, engineers, and/or client.
  • Create both 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Assist in preparing fabrication and installation details for standard window and door assemblies.
  • Incorporating changes or modifications according to the suggestions of the senior designer and/or client.
  • Apply NAS drafting templates, layer conventions, and title block standards.
  • Learn to read window/door schedules and basic structural sheets.
  • Identify missing information or unclear conditions and ask clarifying questions.
  • Liaison between the design team and engineers to gain insight into the project.
  • Supporting engineering with minor drawing adjustments for fabrication and assist in preparing simplified field diagrams or as-built documentation when required.
  • Assist in maintaining block libraries and improving reusable CAD components.
