About The Position

MSIG USA is seeking an Auto Physical Damage Claim Specialist to handle commercial auto physical damage claims, PIP/MedPay matters, and minor to moderate bodily injury claims. This role involves resolving routine repairable losses and managing claims routed to appraisal, estimating, and salvage partners. The specialist will ensure prompt, accurate, and fair claim resolutions while controlling costs and complying with fair claims practices. The position is located in either Cincinnati or Atlanta.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least five years of claims experience.
  • Three or more years handling auto physical damage claims.
  • Active adjuster license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Additional state licenses as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Commercial auto or fleet experience strongly preferred.
  • AIC, CPCU, I-CAR, ASE collision training, or similar industry credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review new auto physical damage assignments, verifying policy details, coverages, and endorsements.
  • Identify coverage questions and potential bodily injury exposures.
  • Make timely, well-documented liability determinations using available evidence and applying negligence and comparative fault rules.
  • Triage claims to the appropriate handling channel based on the physical damage routing protocol.
  • Evaluate physical damage, including total loss evaluation and processing, and deliver timely decisions and payments.
  • Review vendor appraisals, supplements, and repair invoices for accuracy.
  • Actively manage rental, loss-of-use, towing, and storage exposures.
  • Recognize and investigate PIP, MedPay, and minor to moderate bodily injury claims.
  • Escalate bodily injury claims exceeding assigned authority or meeting referral criteria.
  • Identify probable total losses early and follow established protocols.
  • Evaluate diminished value claims based on policy terms and applicable law.
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and pursue recovery.
  • Recognize fraud indicators and report/refer to SIU as required.
  • Set and adjust reserves promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain complete and current electronic claim files and diaries.
  • Comply with unfair claims settlement practices laws and regulations.
  • Issue accurate payments to appropriate parties.
  • Communicate proactively with insureds, claimants, brokers, and fleet managers.
  • Explain coverage, valuation, and repair decisions clearly.
  • Follow account-specific special handling instructions for dedicated accounts.
  • Support continuous improvement of the in-house physical damage program by identifying issues and contributing to reporting.
